TESTING
-
For all FLEXRACK Series G systems, atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel testing has been performed in accordance with section 6.6 of ASCE 7-05, Chapter C31 of ASCE 7-10, ASCE 7-16 and also applicable to the National Building Code of Canada. Accurate 1:60 scale models of the Solar FlexRack were used in the tests. Testing was conducted by CPP.
-
As a result of the tests, the FLEXRACK by Qcells engineering team is able to design units with the most realistic and applicable wind loads. When comparing code-based pressures versus those resulting from the wind tunnel test, it was found that the wind tunnel pressures were lower by as much as 32% for exterior ground-mount arrays and as much as 50% for the interior arrays. As a result of this testing, a more cost-efficient racking system can be designed by FLEXRACK by Qcells, with the most wind-resistant racks reserved for exterior arrays and less expensive racks for the interior, therefore reducing overall project cost by minimizing material.

The FLEXRACK Series FlexTrack Single Axis Trackers also underwent wind tunnel testing to ensure the most realistic and applicable wind loads were being utilized. The results were formatted in a manner to be used in conjunction with ASCE 7-05, ASCE 7-10, ASCE 7-16, and with the National Building Code of Canada. Testing was conducted by RWDI.
WIND TUNNEL TESTING
LOAD TESTING
FLEXRACK by Qcells racks, components, and connections have been tested and verified by several 3rd party organizations.
UL COMPLIANCE
All FLEXRACK by Qcells systems have gone through UL testing. Connections conform to NEC 2017 bonding requirements and are listed per UL2703 for bonding requirements. Certification covers both United States and Canada. The testing and certifications were completed by both ETL and TUV Rheinland.
LIFE CYCLE TESTING
We perform ongoing life cycle testing of critical mechanical and electrical components of the FLEXRACK Series FlexTrack.
EXTENSIVE TESTING
Rain, wind, sleet, snow, heat – every day and everywhere our solar racks are battling the elements. We believe in safety above all else. We perform ongoing extensive testing in these key areas: wind tunnel, structural load, electrical bonding, and life cycle. Here’s what we discovered:
